On International Cancer Day<\/a> we present the trajectory of the \u201cNeurodeath\u201d research group of Dr. Valent\u00edn Ce\u00f1a from the Castilla-La Mancha University<\/h2>\n\n

Group presentation<\/p>\n\n

The research group Neurodeath belongs to the University of Castilla-La Mancha and it is located at the School of Medicine in Albacete. It is directed by Prof. Valent\u00edn Ce\u00f1a and, at the present moment, it is comprised by two senior scientists, two graduate students and two technicians<\/p>\n\n

Group Research Interests<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n

The main line of research is focused on the use of nanoparticles and siRNA to knock down proteins involved in the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. In this case, the group is interested in developing nanoparticles that can deliver siRNA to glioblastoma and prostate cancer cells to potentiate the therapeutic effect of anticancer drugs<\/p>\n\n

Main Contributions<\/p>\n\n

The group has identified several nanoparticles that are able to efficiently transport and knock down simultaneously\u00a0 up to three proteins involved\u00a0 in survival and proliferation signaling in glioblastoma cell. In addition it has shown that\u00a0 some of these nanoparticles are able to deliver labelled siRNA to the brain.<\/p>\n\n
