Invited Lectures

Isabel Fariñas

Prof. Isabel Fariñas is Professor of Cell Biology at the Universitat de València and coordinator of the Molecular Neurobiology (NeuroMol) Unit. Following her PhD at the Instituto Cajal (CSIC) and postdoctoral training at the University of California, San Francisco.
She established an internationally recognized research program focused on the biology of neural stem cell niches and the regulation of neural stem cell quiescence and maintenance. She has led more than 30 competitive research projects, including an ERC Advanced Grant, and has published over 100 scientific articles. She is a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO), Vice Director of CIBERNED, and currently serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). In 2024, she received the Spanish National Research Award in Biology, Santiago Ramón y Cajal.

Juan Bueren

Prof. Juan Bueren is Director of the Biomedical Innovation Unit at CIEMAT and the CIBER of Rare Diseases, and coordinates the Joint Unit for Advanced Therapies at CIEMAT and Fundación Jiménez Díaz.

In October 2024, he completed his term as President of the European Society for Gene and Cell Therapy. Previously, he was President of the Spanish Society for Gene and Cell Therapy (2011-2013) and member of the Governing Council of the Agencia Española del Medicamento y Productos Sanitarios.

From 2016 to August 2025, he was a consultant for the biotechnology company Rocket Pharma. His most impactful work is focused on the gene therapy for rare diseases, particularly blood cell diseases. Based on this, in October 2025 he received the Outstanding Achievement Award from the European Society for Gene and Cell Therapy.

Cesar Romero

Dr. Cesar Romero holds an MD, PhD Ph.D. from National University of Cordoba, Argentina and is currently appointed as Assistant Professor, Renal Medicine, at Emory University School of Medicine (Atlanta, USA).

He is a physician-scientist specializing in hypertension and cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic diseases. He leads a research program that integrates basic, clinical, and population-level studies to advance understanding and treatment in these fields. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the International Society of Hypertension (ISH) and contributes to several scientific committees of the American Heart Association (AHA).

Javier Salvador Rodríguez,

Javier Salvador Rodríguez

Javier Salvador Rodríguez is Emeritus Professor at the Universidad de Navarra after having been a professor in the area of endocrinology since 1993.

He was the Head of the Endocrinology Department at the Clínica Universitaria de Navarra (CUN) for over 18 years (2000-2018). Prof. Salvador Rodríguez has published more than 300 peer-reviewed articles and has supervised over 14 doctoral theses. Prof. Salvador Rodríguez was the President of the Spanish Society of Endocrinology and Nutrition (SEEN) between 2011-2014, President of the Foundation of the Spanish Society of Endocrinology and Nutrition (SEEN) between 2014-2017, and President of the National Commission of the Specialty of Endocrinology and Nutrition between 2014-2019.

He has received numerous awards including the medal of the Spanish Society of Endocrinology and Nutrition (SEEN) for his professional career in 2018, and the Basilio Moreno Award of the Spanish Society for the Study of Obesity (SEEDO) for his professional career in 2023.
